Today, I’d like to introduce you to the Crew Rest, a hidden space inside the airplane that feels like the "Room of Requirement" from Harry Potter.

 

2. Where did they vanish to?

 

📍 Location

Surprisingly, they are located right above your head (overhead) or below your feet (cargo area). Large aircraft like the Boeing 777 or Airbus A350 usually utilize the overhead space above the passenger cabin.

 

🚪 How to enter

The entrance looks like a lavatory door but is equipped with a keypad (door lock), or sometimes it's a hidden narrow staircase tucked away in the corner of a galley. Passengers often mistake it for a cleaning supply closet and walk right past it.

A Capsule Hotel in the Sky

Once you open the secret door and enter, you’ll find a cozy space filled with bunks, much like a capsule hotel or a hostel dormitory.

• Facilities: Although tight, it features flat beds where crew can stretch their legs, curtains for privacy, individual reading lights, and an interphone to contact the cockpit in case of emergencies.
