1-1. Internet
EN A global network that connects computers and devices all around the world so they can share information.
KO 전 세계 컴퓨터와 기기가 서로 정보를 주고받을 수 있도록 연결된 거대한 통신망.
1-2. World Wide Web (WWW)
EN The collection of websites and web pages that you access through the Internet using a browser.
KO 브라우저를 통해 접속하는 웹사이트·웹 페이지들의 모음. (인터넷 전체 = X, 인터넷 위에서 돌아가는 서비스 중 하나)
1-3. Website & Web Page
EN A website is a collection of related web pages under one domain; a web page is a single document inside a website.
KO 웹사이트는 하나의 도메인 아래 묶여 있는 여러 웹 페이지의 집합, 웹 페이지는 그 안에 있는 한 개의 화면(문서).
1-4. URL (Uniform Resource Locator)
EN The address of a page or resource on the web (e.g., https://www.google.com).
KO 웹에서 특정 페이지나 자료에 접속하기 위한 인터넷 주소.
1-5. Domain Name
EN A human-friendly name that points to a website, such as example.com.
KO naver.com, google.com처럼 사람이 읽기 쉬운 형태의 웹사이트 이름.
1-6. IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)
EN A unique number given to each device on a network so it can be identified and reached.
KO 네트워크 안에서 각 기기를 식별하기 위해 부여되는 숫자로 된 주소 (기계용 주소).
1-7. ISP (Internet Service Provider)
EN A company that provides you with Internet access (e.g., Comcast, KT, SK Broadband).
KO 집이나 회사에 인터넷 회선과 서비스를 제공해 주는 회사.
2. Web & Browser | 웹 & 브라우저
2-1. Web Browser
EN A program used to view websites (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox).
KO 웹사이트를 열어서 보는 프로그램. 예: 크롬, 엣지, 사파리, 파이어폭스
2-2. Homepage / Main Page
EN The main or first page of a website.
KO 웹사이트에 들어갔을 때 가장 먼저 보이는 첫 화면·메인 페이지.
2-3. Tab
EN Separate “pages” opened within one browser window.
KO 하나의 브라우저 창 안에서 여러 페이지를 열어 두는 탭 기능.
2-4. Link / Hyperlink
EN Clickable text or image that takes you to another page or file.
KO 클릭하면 다른 페이지나 파일로 이동하는 링크(하이퍼링크).
2-5. HTTP / HTTPS
EN Protocols used to transfer web pages. HTTPS is the secure, encrypted version.
KO 웹 페이지를 주고받는 규칙. HTTPS는 정보를 암호화해서 더 안전한 버전.
2-6. Cookie
EN Small data that a website saves on your device to remember settings, logins, or preferences.
KO 로그인 상태·설정 등을 기억하기 위해 웹사이트가 내 기기에 저장하는 작은 데이터 조각.
2-7. Cache
EN Temporary stored data used to load websites faster the next time.
KO 다음에 같은 사이트를 더 빨리 보여 주기 위해 저장해 두는 임시 데이터.
3. Network & Connection | 네트워크 & 연결
3-1. Network
EN A group of connected devices that can share information.
KO 서로 연결되어 데이터를 주고받을 수 있는 컴퓨터·기기들의 집합.
3-2. LAN (Local Area Network)
EN A small local network, like in your home, office, or school.
KO 집·사무실·학교 등 한정된 공간 안에서의 네트워크.
3-3. Wi-Fi
EN A wireless way of connecting devices to a network or the Internet.
KO 케이블 없이 인터넷에 연결해 주는 무선 네트워크 기술.
3-4. Router
EN A device that directs data between your devices and the Internet; often also provides Wi-Fi.
KO 집 안의 여러 기기를 인터넷에 연결해 주고, 데이터를 잘 나눠 보내는 공유기·라우터.
3-5. Bandwidth
EN How much data can be sent per second (like the width of a road).
KO 일정 시간에 보낼 수 있는 데이터의 양. 도로의 차선 수에 비유할 수 있음.
3-6. Latency
EN The delay before data starts moving from one point to another.
KO 내가 요청을 보낸 순간부터 실제 응답이 오기까지 걸리는 지연 시간.
4. Email & Messaging | 이메일 & 메신저
4-1. Email (Electronic Mail)
EN Digital messages sent over the Internet.
KO 인터넷을 통해 주고받는 전자 우편.
4-2. Email Address
EN The unique address where you receive email (e.g., name@example.com).
KO 이메일을 주고받기 위한 개인의 전자 주소.
4-3. Inbox / Spam
EN Inbox is where normal emails arrive; Spam is where unwanted or suspicious emails go.
KO 받은 편지함(Inbox)은 일반 메일, 스팸함(Spam)은 광고·의심 메일이 모이는 곳.
4-4. Attachment
EN A file (document, photo, etc.) sent together with an email.
KO 이메일에 함께 보내는 파일(첨부파일).
4-5. Chat / Messenger / DM
EN Real-time text conversation via apps (WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, Messenger). DM = Direct Message.
KO 카카오톡·왓츠앱 등으로 하는 실시간 대화. DM은 개인 쪽지 개념.
4-6. Thread
EN A series of related messages or comments grouped together.
KO 서로 이어지는 메시지나 댓글들을 묶어 놓은 대화 흐름(스레드).

5-1. Social Media Platform
EN Online services where people share content and interact (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, TikTok).
KO 인스타그램, 유튜브, 페이스북, 틱톡처럼 사람들과 소통·공유하는 온라인 서비스.
5-2. Post / Content
EN Anything you upload or share online: text, image, video, etc.
KO 온라인에 올리는 글, 사진, 영상 등 모든 것을 게시물·콘텐츠라고 부름.
5-3. Like / Comment / Share
EN Common ways to react to a post: liking, writing a reply, or sharing it to others.
KO 게시물에 반응하는 기본 동작: 좋아요, 댓글, 공유.
5-4. Hashtag (#)
EN A keyword with # used to label and group posts (e.g., #English, #Travel).
KO # 기호와 함께 쓰는 검색·분류용 키워드.
5-5. Tag / Mention (@)
EN Using @username to refer to or notify another user.

6-1. Password & Username
EN Login ID (username) and secret code (password) used to access your account.
KO 계정에 접속할 때 쓰는 아이디(Username)와 비밀번호(Password).
6-2. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
EN Extra security step: after your password, you confirm with a code or app.
KO 비밀번호에 한 번 더, 문자·앱 코드 등으로 추가 인증을 하는 보안 방식.
6-3. Firewall
EN A security system that filters and blocks unwanted network traffic.
KO 의심스러운 외부 접근을 막아 주는 보안 장치·프로그램.
6-4. Malware / Virus / Trojan / Spyware
EN Malicious software that harms your device or steals data.

7-1. Cloud Computing
EN Using remote servers on the Internet instead of your own computer to store or process data.

7-2. Cloud Storage
EN Online storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud.

7-3. Download / Upload
EN Download = from Internet to your device; Upload = from your device to Internet.

7-4. Streaming
EN Playing video or audio directly from the Internet without fully downloading it first.
KO 파일을 다 받지 않고, 인터넷에서 바로 재생하는 방식 (넷플릭스, 유튜브 등).
7-5. Backup
EN A copy of your data kept in another place (cloud or external drive) for safety.
KO 혹시 모를 사고에 대비해 다른 곳에 복사해 두는 데이터.

EN Data is information; traffic is how much data is moving across a network.

EN Paid advertising in search engines (sponsored results).
