Introduction – The Beginning of a Voice

Every language has a moment when it begins to breathe.
For English, that breath started more than 1,500 years ago,
on a small island surrounded by the North Sea and misty skies.
There, warriors, poets, and dreamers began to weave sounds into meaning.

Old English – The Language of Courage and Earth

The first form of English—Old English—was born when the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes arrived from Northern Europe around the 5th century.
Their words were strong and simple, built for daily life and battle.

Words like strong, friend, night, gold, and dream come from this time.
So does the spirit of Beowulf, the oldest English poem,
where courage, loyalty, and fate echo through every line.

Though hard to read today, Old English carried a deep rhythm—
a language that sounded like the land itself.
